ED STAUNTON

BMus (Hons), BSc (Hons)

Ed specialises in vocal technique and is known for quickly identifying and resolving underlying issues in the voice, without compromising the singer’s individuality or natural sound. He works with singers preparing for recordings, tours and live performance, as well as auditions, and has also helped countless beginners find their own voice and express themselves.

Ed, thank you for all the lessons. Tour went very well, and I was very pleased with my singing - better than ever. Even easier than the last time we played Vegas. Whatever you’re doing definitely works!
— Roland Orzabal, Tears For Fears

Originally trained in Speech Level Singing – the method used by artists such as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder – Ed’s work has since evolved to incorporate current research in vocal science, acoustics and vocal function. This depth of understanding allows him to identify and resolve complex vocal issues with clarity and efficiency.

Ed holds a BMus in Vocal Performance, Music Production and Arranging, as well as a second degree in Psychology & Physiology (BSc). He has also taught at degree level at the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM). These disciplines underpin his understanding of both the voice and the performer. He has also completed a course on Vocal Distortions.

Anna is quite honestly the best singing teacher I’ve ever had. In two years of being taught by her, I can do things with my voice that I never imagined I would ever be able to do before now, plus I’ve gained a much more comprehensive understanding of how my voice works.
— Lisbee Stainton, 23 year-old singer-songwriter, launched in 2007 as the first unsigned singer-songwriter to play the O2 Arena

Anna really enjoys teaching beginners as well as professionals, because her teaching methods and relaxed manner yield such fast results across all skill levels.

TESTIMONIALS

I was preparing to go on the 3rd leg of Zero 7’s 2009 World Tour, and I realised I needed an intense vocal overhaul to get my voice in shape quickly. There were a number of songs for the tour that I was positive were out of my range, and I was concerned that I might cause damage to my voice if I didn’t sort these issues out.

I went to Anna for my first vocal lesson, and she literally broke down every part of my voice and technique that we needed to target, and over the next 3 weeks I went from strength to strength, hitting notes comfortably that I never thought possible. Anna not only enabled me to make choices with my voice that I could never make before, but she also gave me a huge confidence with her encouraging and reassuring teaching manner.

I would recommend Anna to any serious vocalist who wants to sing with choices rather than limitations....book your lesson now folks!
